Just believe in yourself // April 12, 2015

This is my very first mixed media page in my art journal! I got so excited when I got my Amazon order that I had to try some of those things immediately. I put masking tape around the edges of the page to prevent ink and paint from leaking into other pages and when I took those off they had some much lovely ink on it that I wanted to use them. So I stuck them (as well as extra paint on my stencil) to this “blank page” in This Is Not a Book.

I am really happy with the result!

p.s. I put waxing paper between the pages to prevent them from sticking to each other. Just in case. Because every time I touch the paper my fingers get dirty, so I decided to make sure nothing gets smeared. =\

Art Journal (part 2) – March-April 2015

Art Journal – part 2

These are my most recent (and most favourite pages). The top left one was inspired by Alice in Wonderland ballet that I watched about 3 weeks ago.

I realized that I enjoy doodling circles the most. Those black circles took me ages!

The last two pages (or page spreads) were done in Montreal. I was inspired by the orientalism exhibition in the fine arts museum. Tried to reproduce one of the patterns and came up with something different myself.

I also go through “art journal” and wtj tags on tumblr to look for ideas.

Kill Your Darlings Movie Poster

“Kill Your Darlings” is a 2013 American biographical drama film written by Austin Bunn and directed by John Krokidas. The story is about the college days of some of the earliest members of the Beat Generation (Lucien Carr, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, and Jack Kerouac), their interactions, and the killing in Riverside Park in Manhattan, New York City.

My luck was back today as I got to see Kill Your Darlings with Daniel Radcliffe. The start time was at 6.30om at Roy Thompson Hall. Seeing as yesterday the rush line was enormous for August: Osage County I didn’t really have much hope.
