Art Journal // April 12, 2015
This is the page that I did yesterday. I saw this line somewhere on tumblr, so I take no credit for that. (Not sure if I should add more colour to the butterflies or not.)
Both this one and the previous page were gessoed. I am learning the process and quite enjoying. The only downfall is that gesso and some paints smell funny and this is not a good thing as I develop headaches easily from weird smells.
Just believe in yourself // April 12, 2015
This is my very first mixed media page in my art journal! I got so excited when I got my Amazon order that I had to try some of those things immediately. I put masking tape around the edges of the page to prevent ink and paint from leaking into other pages and when I took those off they had some much lovely ink on it that I wanted to use them. So I stuck them (as well as extra paint on my stencil) to this “blank page” in This Is Not a Book.
I am really happy with the result!
p.s. I put waxing paper between the pages to prevent them from sticking to each other. Just in case. Because every time I touch the paper my fingers get dirty, so I decided to make sure nothing gets smeared. =\
Art Journal // April 9, 2015
For everyone who might need a bit of inspiration today.
Art Journal (part 2) - March-April 2015
These are my most recent (and most favourite pages). The top left one was inspired by Alice in Wonderland ballet that I watched about 3 weeks ago.
I realized that I enjoy doodling circles the most. Those black circles took me ages!
The last two pages (or page spreads) were done in Montreal. I was inspired by the orientalism exhibition in the fine arts museum. Tried to reproduce one of the patterns and came up with something different myself.
I also go through “art journal” and wtj tags on tumblr to look for ideas.
Art Journal (part 1) - March 2015
Besides Keri Smith’s “This Is Not a Book” I also have a Moleskine that I use for doodling whatever comes to my mind and also experimenting with media.
